Dr. Lora Liu discovered her interest in laparoscopic surgery early in life. As a teenager, she spent hours in the operating
room, watching with fascination as her father, Dr. CY Liu, performed surgery, including endometriosis surgery. Although she has undergone training in urological and colorectal surgery during her fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, she firmly believes that any complex endometriosis surgery should include a multi-disciplinary team due to the frequent multi-organ involvement of the disease.
For that reason, Dr. Liu routinely has a urologist, general surgeon, cardio-thoracic surgeon, or other appropriate sub-specialist in the operating room during her complex endometriosis surgeries. This then allows those involved organs to be corrected during the endometriosis surgery, thereby eliminating the need for the patient to return for another surgery.
